Haas F1 endured a tough Qatar GP as Magnussen lamented P9, and Hulkenberg’s early collision deepened their battle against Alpine.
Kevin Magnussen secured two points for Haas F1 in Qatar with a solid ninth-place finish, but it’s not good news for the American team on a day when Alpine scored 10 points and now holds a five-point advantage.
The Dane reflected on his Sunday in Losail, expressing disappointment at earning just two points:
“I’m really disappointed with the safety car intervention; it completely ruined my day, and I should have had many more points!”
“Everything was going well, and we had a strong start to the race, but I would have preferred if the safety car hadn’t come out—it really put us in a tough spot. There’s still one race left, and we’ll give it everything to beat Alpine.”
Nico Hülkenberg collided with Esteban Ocon at Turn 1, went off track, and lamented Haas losing points to Alpine after a frustrating race:
“Turn 1 was chaotic; there was contact, but I don’t remember much because it all happened so fast. I don’t know if I was hit or if I hit someone.”
“It didn’t go well, but I didn’t have damage. I was able to continue, did a long stint, but was unlucky with the safety car. On the restart, I lost the car in a sudden and aggressive way. It just wasn’t our day, but we’ll try to do better next week.”
“The performance isn’t bad, but we saw how tight it is. It’s disappointing—we missed an opportunity, made mistakes, and I made mistakes. It’s hard to accept and swallow, but we’ll need to regroup and come back stronger next week.”
