Sauber F1 kicked off testing in Bahrain with a solid and productive session, as Hülkenberg and Bortoleto gathered valuable early-season data.
Sauber F1 was not the most prolific team of the day in Bahrain, but it still gathered a significant amount of data. Nico Hülkenberg welcomed this, as he enjoyed some exciting laps at the wheel of the C45 and was able to understand his new car.
“We had a solid and productive first day today, and overall, it feels good to finally be back on track. It was an important first day with the car: we started with a strong baseline and put in some good laps throughout the morning, following the program we had set,” said ‘Hulk.’
“Between the two sessions, we collected a useful amount of data on the car’s behavior, which the team will work on overnight. Now, it’s about learning more over the next few days and making the most of our track time.”
Gabriel Bortoleto made his Formula 1 debut and covered slightly more than a Grand Prix distance: “My first official day with the C45 was an interesting experience. We focused on a few aerodynamic runs throughout the session, testing different aspects and gaining valuable mileage.”
“Towards the end, we had a few sets of fresh tires to push a bit and have some fun. Overall, I’m quite satisfied with what we achieved today. After the first day, there is always a lot to learn and improve. This is just the beginning, and I’m looking forward to getting back in the car tomorrow.”
