Horner Case Heads to Court as UK Media Gagged

04/03/2025

After a year of silence, the Horner case resurfaces as his former assistant pushes for a full legal review, despite media restrictions.

For a year, the Horner case had begun to fade from public attention, as there had been no further developments following its internal classification and an alleged negotiation behind closed doors. This seemingly unconfirmed conclusion marked the end of a case that had shaken Red Bull in early 2024, after his former assistant accused him of harassment and inappropriate behavior.

An independent lawyer had provisionally cleared Horner, without confirmed evidence, and the case was considered closed unless taken to court. The employee, meanwhile, was dismissed by Red Bull after the incident, which had not led to further action.

However, the case now appears to be resurfacing, as De Telegraaf reports that she has filed a legal appeal requesting a full investigation into Christian Horner. The case will be heard by the employment tribunal, a UK judicial body handling disputes between employers and employees.

This development comes just days before the release of Drive to Survive Season 7, in which the matter is addressed with a partial perspective, emphasizing Horner’s battle in the case while sidelining the alleged victim.

The complete silence surrounding the affair has raised eyebrows, yet it has also become clear why British media—Red Bull’s closest press circle—have remained quiet since last spring.

Horner has obtained a Reporting Restriction Order (RRO) on the case, a legal mechanism preventing media from covering a sensitive issue involving a public figure. This restriction applies only to British media, which are therefore prohibited from reporting on the matter unless Horner’s legal team withdraws the request.
