Newey, F1’s most renowned designer, reached an agreement to leave Red Bull last year, preventing him from starting work with Aston Martin F1 before early March this year.

A very long break from F1, which the Brit admits he used well to rest and travel with his wife. But is there a way around these lengthy notice periods?

A former F1 engineer is “certain” that Newey will have honored his agreement.

“I’m sure he hasn’t done that,” said former Spanish F1 engineer Toni Cuquerella.

“Adrian is someone who has always understood and respected the profession. Besides, it gains you almost nothing and exposes you to significant risk.”

“It’s a risk he certainly hasn’t taken and won’t take with just a month left before his debut with his new team.”

Moreover, Newey’s primary focus once he starts will be the brand-new 2026 project.

“I’ll be focusing on 2026, but Lawrence Stroll will certainly want me to be somewhat involved with the 2025 car. I won’t know whether I can really contribute this year or not until I begin.”
