Hamilton’s Film Ambitions Grow Beyond F1 with New Projects

Lewis Hamilton expands his creative horizon, unveiling animated films, documentaries and features following his F1 movie producing debut.

Hamilton says he has several film projects underway after making his debut as a producer on the upcoming Formula 1 movie.

The Ferrari driver was one of 18 drivers present at the private screening of the forthcoming film titled F1: The Movie, in which Brad Pitt plays fictional driver Sonny Hayes, making a comeback with the APX GP team.

Hamilton, a producer on the project through his own company, Dawn Apollo Films, was closely involved to ensure the film’s authenticity.

Hamilton Plots Film Future

Speaking at the Monaco Grand Prix, Hamilton revealed he is already developing several new projects, including animations and documentaries, following his significant first steps into the film industry.

“I’ve never done this before, but I have concepts, ideas for films.”

“At least two of them will be animated films, and one is already underway with the first part of the script, so that’s exciting.”

“Then there will be documentaries, and mainly feature films.”

The forty-something expressed immense pride in seeing his production company appear on screen.

“When you watch the movie, at the start, you see all the logos of the different production houses, and Dawn Apollo’s is there, it’s amazing.”

“Then, fairly early in the film, they start showing who produced the film, and we found my name, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s crazy.’”

Hamilton’s Cinematic Dream Realised

Asked about his overall impression of the finished product, Hamilton described the experience as “really interesting and amazing”, highlighting the opportunity to work with director Joe Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer while learning about the filmmaking process.

“From writing the first draft to the first 30 pages, building the story, and working with the writers to ensure the most authentic result possible, it was great.”

“And then, to think the project is finally here after all the work, and that Hans Zimmer joined us for the score… I’m a huge fan of his so that was the cherry on top.”
