Hamilton’s Ferrari Move: Mansell Predicts Championship Glory

Nigel Mansell believes Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari switch is a “magical” move, paving the way for a potential championship-winning duo.

Former Ferrari driver Nigel Mansell is eager to see Lewis Hamilton join the Scuderia this year. The seven-time world champion’s decision is endorsed by his fellow Briton, who looks forward to seeing him alongside Charles Leclerc.

“I think what Lewis has done by deciding to join Ferrari is the most magical thing he could have done,” Mansell told the Daily Mail. “The team is ultra-competitive. It can aim for the championship title.

“I don’t care what people say about Lewis. He’s a class act. I’ve always been one of his fans. I was a lone voice for a while. He made me very proud to see an incredibly talented young man storm onto the F1 scene. It won’t be easy facing Leclerc, but I think it’ll be healthy.”

“Some people might consider Lewis an outsider, but I think those people would be making a huge mistake. I think he’s going to surprise everyone. It might take him a few races to feel comfortable, but I see a complete resurgence at Ferrari.”

However, while Mansell sees Hamilton shining, he also expects Leclerc to give everything to beat his new teammate: “That doesn’t mean Charles won’t give him a run for his money, and there will be weekends where he gets everything perfect. But more consistency is needed.”

“Many drivers win races, but organizing championships is another matter. I’ll go out on a limb and guarantee that if Lewis finds his motivation again, he has another championship in him. Easily. Ferrari has done a great job, and I think it’s going to be incredibly exciting.”
