Ahead of the Japanese GP, Hamilton delivers a sharp message to critics questioning his Ferrari move and long-term potential with the team.
As the Formula 1 world gears up for the Japanese Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton has taken a firm stand against the wave of criticism surrounding his move to Ferrari.
Since announcing his transfer and especially after a shaky weekend in Melbourne, Hamilton has been under fire from fans and pundits alike, many questioning whether the seven-time world champion still has what it takes to compete at Ferrari’s level, or alongside Charles Leclerc. While a victory in the Chinese Sprint briefly silenced doubters, his struggles in the main race brought the noise right back.
Speaking candidly, Hamilton didn’t hold back.
“We live in such a strange time,” he said. “People jump at any chance to be negative, even over the smallest things. And it never stops.”
The British driver explained that while he tries to avoid reading headlines, he’s seen enough glimpses to know that even respected figures in the sport have weighed in with speculation, often without any real understanding of what’s happening behind the scenes.
“It’s disappointing,” he continued. “Joining a new team with a completely different culture, different systems, a totally different car, it’s not something you just click with overnight. Look at Seb [Vettel], look at Fernando [Alonso]. Yes, they did great things early on, but real success takes time to build.”
Hamilton made it clear: he’s not rushing. He’s focused on creating something lasting with Ferrari.
“I’m not here to flip a switch and expect instant wins. I’m here to build with this incredible team. That takes time.”
“You can’t just walk into a new environment and expect it to work like magic. Building something meaningful, something that lasts, it’s a process. I’m not feeling the pressure. I know what Ferrari means to the fans, to the team. I feel that passion. But Rome wasn’t built in a day.”
His message? Stay calm, stay focused, and keep pushing forward.
“We have to take it step by step. Be consistent, be patient, stay composed. That’s the key. Because this journey, it’s a marathon, not a sprint.”
