Hamilton rues ‘terrible’ day after Spanish GP slump

Lewis Hamilton endured a dismal Spanish Grand Prix, finishing sixth and admitting he had no answers after a frustrating performance.

Lewis Hamilton spoke with clear disappointment following his sixth-place finish at the Spanish Grand Prix.

The Ferrari driver, who had to let Charles Leclerc through early in the race due to a lack of pace, seemed on track to finish close to his teammate. But George Russell overtook him with a stronger rhythm, and on the late restart, Nico Hülkenberg’s Sauber passed him for fifth place.

On the radio, Hamilton said: “There’s something wrong with the car!”

Asked about this statement during the debrief, Hamilton replied: “Not particularly. It just wasn’t an ideal day.”

Regarding the team’s strategy, Hamilton had no criticism, including the decision to let Leclerc through early in the race.

“The strategy was good. The team did a great job. That’s all.”

“I had a really bad day and I have nothing to say. It was a tough day. I have nothing more to add.”

“It was terrible. There’s no point in explaining. It’s not your fault for asking questions. I just don’t know what to say. And I don’t think the team will have any answers for you tonight.”
