Lewis Hamilton commended the FIA’s progress on race regulations, while acknowledging there’s still work to be done for perfection.
Hamilton shared his teammate George Russell’s view (read here) on the positive direction of the race regulations and directives.
Hamilton notably agreed that the issues largely stem from the varying nature of each circuit on the F1 calendar.
Moreover, the seven-time champion praised the governing body of motorsport for listening to the drivers.
“What’s great is simply recognizing that the FIA and the stewards take the time to sit down with us and allow us to express our views on the matter.”
“Tuesday was probably the first time we had that meeting in quite some time. You know, things have changed, but I would say it was the best meeting we’ve had.”
“It’s very complex to set strict rules because there are so many different corners, so many different scenarios. They certainly don’t have an easy job.”
“I think it helps all of us to sit down with them, discuss what they think, because in their mind, this year has been better, or has been better in terms of consistency, but of course, everyone wants it to be perfect.”
“But as long as we haven’t had those discussions for them to fully understand what we’re looking for, what we stand for, and what we think is right or wrong in certain situations, it’s good that they listen to us and that we work on really clear guidelines.”
“So that, even from the car, you know exactly what you need to do to stay within the lines. We’re working together on this. I think, just from that meeting, we are definitely moving in the right direction.”
