Hamilton on Ferrari Move Passion Like Nowhere Else

Hamilton: “Ferrari Made Me Feel at Home from Day One”

05/03/2025

Lewis Hamilton shares his first impressions of Ferrari, praising the team’s passion and unity as he settles into his new F1 home.

This winter, Lewis Hamilton completed the second transfer of his Formula 1 career by moving to Ferrari. The former McLaren F1 and Mercedes driver explains what the Scuderia represents, even for a driver who has won everything, and how the Maranello structure operates.

“It’s an honor to be part of this historic team. Red is the color of passion, isn’t it? It’s the color of love. So there is an incredible amount of passion in this team, as you know, as well as in the fan base they have with the tifosi, and you see that in everyone at Ferrari,” Hamilton said.

“Obviously, at Ferrari, there is also the car manufacturer, but we are all more or less under the same roof. So when I cross the road to go to the wind tunnel, for example, I see other members of the team who are not necessarily part of the racing team but are still part of the organization.”

“It’s really, really special to see that and experience it every day, and every day, I keep meeting new people. But they have done everything to make me feel welcome, which, honestly, has made this the best month. I’ve had the best time.”

“It’s been exhausting, we have all been pushed, but now is the time to focus. Everyone has their head down, concentrating on doing their best every day. Just like me, I’m trying to make sure we bring out the best in ourselves every day.”

Despite the surprise of seeing him in red, the seven-time world champion recalls that it was the color of his first helmet before switching to yellow, which is why both colors appear on his helmet this year.

“My first helmet was actually red, but it was Ferrari red. My first helmet. But my father couldn’t see me at the other end of the track, in the first corner, so we ended up choosing yellow. But being able to connect it to the beginning, using yellow as a base, I think it goes really well with the red.”
