Hamilton Proposes Pit Stop Rule for Monaco

27/05/2024

Lewis Hamilton calls for mandatory pit stops at Monaco, criticizing the hard tyre compounds for making the race dull for both drivers and fans.

Lewis Hamilton has been one of the drivers advocating for measures to spice up the Monaco Grand Prix.

After the race, his stance remained unchanged when informed that the event had been dull for both drivers and fans alike.

“I Can Only Imagine. I Mean, Ultimately, Our Tyres Can Last an Entire Race; The Compounds Are Too Hard for This Circuit, We Need to Find Ways to Spice It Up,” Said the Mercedes F1 Driver, Who Finished 7th Yesterday.

“I understand that Pirelli can’t develop tyres specifically for one race, and we can’t do tests here. Maybe three mandatory pit stops or something like that to liven up Sunday a bit more.”

“Because of the accident, everyone switched to the other tyre. Perhaps that should be banned. This was certainly one of the most boring races I’ve ever participated in. But it’s Monaco.”

“There’s not much to add to what everyone has said. This race ran incident-free after the second start. It’s not difficult. Frustrating? It was quite easy, to be honest. We were driving several seconds below our limits.”

“I don’t know what it’s like to watch that for two hours, but unless you’re a fan of Charles, I’m sure a lot of people fell asleep.”

His team principal, Toto Wolff, admitted he found himself “in uncharted territory.”

“I treated myself to a yogurt and an espresso. I’ve never done that in 12 years.”

George Russell added: “My God, it was horrible. How boring was that? They really need to change something for Sundays here. Maybe mandatory pit stops.”
