Juan Pablo Montoya believes Ferrari could reignite Lewis Hamilton’s dominance, making him the unbeatable force he once was in Formula 1.
Jackie Stewart believes Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari could spring a surprise and compete for victories and titles in 2025. The three-time F1 world champion was surprised to see the Briton join the Scuderia but understands how much impact Ferrari can have with a driver of his caliber.
“He is more experienced than last year and the years before, he knows the job very well,” Stewart told Sky F1. “Ferrari is the biggest name in the world. If you went to a Maasai warrior in the middle of Africa and asked, ‘Do you know anything about Ferrari?’ he would know the name Ferrari.”
“For Lewis, I was surprised he went there. Going to Ferrari is very colorful, very exciting, and generally very successful. I wouldn’t count them out, to put it plainly.”
Juan Pablo Montoya believes Lewis Hamilton can find success very quickly and become unbeatable: “What happened to Lewis Hamilton is what happened to Fernando Alonso. They still have 100% of their speed, but they will always qualify in the top 10 one way or another.”
“If the car were capable of winning, they would be much higher. If Hamilton has a fast car this season, we will see the old Hamilton from a few years ago, the Hamilton that no one can beat, not even Max Verstappen. But the question for Ferrari is how they will keep him motivated.”
“Well, Ferrari is putting all its eggs in one basket to be competitive this season. Mercedes doesn’t have much to risk, McLaren has a huge opportunity to continue dominating before the 2026 regulation changes, where they could become average.”
