The seven-time champ opens up on adapting his driving to unlock Ferrari’s full potential and hit their ambitious performance targets.

Lewis Hamilton remains confident that Ferrari will get back to winning ways, even if the journey takes time. He, Charles Leclerc, and team principal Fred Vasseur have set clear ambitions, and Hamilton believes the team has what it takes to meet them.

Speaking candidly, the seven-time world champion acknowledged the pressure that naturally surrounds Ferrari, given its legacy.

“It’s Ferrari — the biggest name in Formula 1 history. Of course there’s more media attention, more opinions, and more noise around everything we do,” Hamilton said. “But change doesn’t happen overnight. We’re getting to know each other, and we’re building towards something long-term.”

Hamilton emphasized that some improvements can come quickly, while others will require patience. His focus is on helping the team grow while preserving its unique passion and energy.

“There’s a strong unity in the team,” he added. “Everyone is giving their all. We go through the highs and lows together, and I truly believe we’ll reach our goals — it’s just going to take time.”

One of the biggest hurdles for Hamilton has been adapting his driving style to suit the Ferrari.

“I won’t go into all the technical details, but it’s really about driving style,” he explained. “What worked for me for years doesn’t fullyapply here, and I’m working on adapting.”

He admits that the required changes are significant — especially when trying to extract every last tenth of performance.

“In those key moments, it’s natural to go back to what you know. But that might not be the way forward now. I need to stay mindful of that.”

Still, driving for Ferrari is something Hamilton is clearly enjoying.

“It’s surreal. Every time I get in the car and see the red and yellow, it feels special,” he said. “This track is amazing, and I know Ferrari has had success here before. Every race is a learning experience for me with this team, and I feel good about our chances to keep improving.”

Hamilton also pointed out the edge Charles Leclerc currently has when it comes to getting the most from the car.

“Charles has been with this car for years. His style fits it really well — he likes a bit of oversteer, he’s comfortable sliding the rear, and it’s impressive to watch,” Hamilton said. “He doesn’t change much because he already knows the limit from past seasons.”

Hamilton, by contrast, is still exploring the car’s behavior and searching for the sweet spot.

“I’ve tried just about everything to understand it. Now it’s about refining my style and mastering each track as we go.”
