Hamilton Admits SF-25 Feels Alien: 'Need New Brain'

Lewis Hamilton struggles to connect with Ferrari’s SF-25, admitting only a brain transplant might help him unlock its full potential.

Lewis Hamilton admits he’s struggling to unlock the potential of his Ferrari, and he’s not sugarcoating it.

The seven-time Formula 1 world champion didn’t hold back when asked about his tough start with the Scuderia. Despite a promising sprint win at the Chinese Grand Prix, Hamilton says he still feels far from comfortable in the SF-25.

And his solution? “Honestly, I’d need a brain transplant to really get on top of this car,” he said with a laugh, masking a deeper frustration.

The switch to Ferrari hasn’t been easy for Hamilton. As he nears mid-season, he’s often trailing behind his teammate Charles Leclerc, and the adjustment to his new machine is proving to be one of the biggest challenges of his career.

When asked whether the break between Saudi Arabia and Miami could be the reset he needs, Hamilton was honest about where he stands.

“Whatever I do, I’m still not where I want to be. But we keep pushing. No giving up.”

He’s shown some signs of progress, qualifying 7th in Q3—better than he expected after a difficult final practice. But when it comes to the race, Hamilton is keeping his expectations realistic.

“I’ll just give it everything, try to move forward. If something opens up, I’ll try to grab it. If not, it’s about maximizing what we’ve got—strategy, pace, the whole package.”

So what’s holding him back from cracking the SF-25?

“After the last race, I was hopeful. I thought we’d made progress. But once I got back in the car, it just wasn’t working. It’s like I’m back to square one.”

“Right now, it’s just me. I’m not clicking with the car yet.”

He admitted he might be “too stuck in his ways,” but insists he’s giving it everything he has.

“The car changes with every run. It’s unpredictable. That makes it exciting, but also really tough to piece it all together.”

As Hamilton continues to search for answers, one thing is clear: he’s not throwing in the towel. The fight is still on.
