Hadjar braces for a challenging Miami GP, while Lawson enters with confidence, aiming to make the most of the unique opportunity.
Isack Hadjar is excited to be in Miami for the first time in his career, but the Racing Bulls driver admits that he’s expecting a tough weekend ahead. Currently feeling under the weather, Hadjar anticipates that the Grand Prix in Florida will be particularly demanding.
“I’ll probably be a bit tired on Sunday, and I’m feeling a bit sick, so that doesn’t help. The adrenaline will get me through, but I’ll definitely be resting in bed on Monday! I need to stay focused and try to separate the media duties from the actual driving,” said Hadjar, who is unsure if the circuit with its slow corners will play to the strengths of his VCARB 02.
“I’m not sure. Japan was very fast, Jeddah was very fast, and we didn’t perform well in qualifying. There are too many factors we can’t control, and the competition is very tight. But this is the kind of track where a driver can make a difference in the slow corners and extract the maximum from the car. It’s going to be a tough battle.”
The French driver is happy with the work his team has done in creating a unique livery: “I really like it. We’re definitely going to stand out in the paddock. I think we’ve done a better job with the special livery than other teams, and I’m really pleased with it.”
Liam Lawson is also gearing up for his first experience at the Miami International Autodrome this weekend: “It’s great to be here, the atmosphere is really good. I came here as a reserve driver, and now I’m racing as a full-time driver. The circuit looks cool, and it’s exciting for us with the launch of our new livery. The sprint race is going to be a challenge, but also a real opportunity.”
The New Zealander isn’t concerned about getting comfortable with the car: “I think I’ll get up to speed pretty quickly. Since Bahrain, I’ve felt comfortable in the car. There are so many variables in F1, and putting everything together can be difficult at times, but I hope we can show that we’ve got it right this weekend.”
