In Canada’s challenging conditions, Magnussen excelled for Haas F1, while Hülkenberg faced inconsistencies during the practice sessions.
Kevin Magnussen delivered a strong performance for Haas F1 during the first day of practice at the Canadian Grand Prix. Finishing sixth in FP2, he felt comfortable in both wet and dry conditions and is eagerly looking forward to the rest of the weekend after learning a lot.
“You never learn enough, but I was able to hit the track on slicks and intermediates, and I had a good feeling with the car in both conditions. It was a good day and I hope it will be good tomorrow,” noted the Dane. “The feeling in the car, the pace we had, it was encouraging and positive. So that’s my takeaway from the day.”
Nico Hülkenberg had more mixed feelings: “It was tough, I’m mixed depending on parts of the session. Sometimes it was okay, sometimes not, so we need to work to understand why it wasn’t going well on intermediates and why I had no pace.”
“It will be the same tomorrow, so it will be interesting. It’s very tricky, but these weekends happen and they spice things up. We have less preparation for qualifying and the race, so the race should be interesting.”
