Haas F1 Targets Spa Success After Hungary Letdown

Haas F1 Eager for Spa Challenge, Aims for Comeback

24/07/2024

Following a tough round in Hungary, Haas F1 sets sights on a strong performance at the unique Spa circuit.

Haas F1 experienced a tougher weekend in Hungary after two races where Nico Hülkenberg finished in sixth place. However, he remains hopeful for a strong result at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend, in the final race before the summer break.

“Spa is truly a unique circuit, it’s always a big challenge and it’s the last race before the summer break, which means you want to give everything before a short rest,” stated the German driver.

“I’ve had good results here and with the car performing as it is, we should expect a competitive weekend. For the summer break, I will spend a few days in Bavaria with my family. I’ll go mountain hiking, relax, and recharge, then return to training to be ready for the second half of the season.”

Kevin Magnussen is very pleased to be racing in Belgium: “Spa is one of my favorite circuits in the world, and the closest to a home race—geographically at least—for me. It’s a circuit everyone enjoys, and the Raidillon de l’Eau Rouge is always a highlight, even though it’s technically quite an easy turn.”

“We’ve been effective on the long straights, so our strengths should come to the forefront and shine here. It’s always an exciting race with unpredictable weather and I hope that with our car, which has proven good on every circuit so far, we can have a strong race here.”

Ayao Komatsu, the team’s director, discusses the challenge of the Belgian Ardennes track: “I’m looking forward to returning to Spa, it’s a challenging circuit for both the car and the driver. The track requires an efficient car due to the long straights of sectors 1 and 3, and the challenge will be to balance this with the flowing sequence of sector 2.”

“Spa always offers interesting races with many overtaking opportunities and the famous Spa-Francorchamps weather conditions can always add to the excitement. I’m eager to finish the last race before the factory shutdown on a positive note!”
