Haas F1 reclaims 6th in the Constructors’ standings, capitalizing on Nico Hulkenberg’s strong drive and Pierre Gasly’s unfortunate retirement.
Nico Hulkenberg enabled Haas F1 to reclaim 6th place in the Constructors’ Championship from Alpine F1 in Las Vegas.
This was expected given the current form of both teams, but Pierre Gasly’s strong performance could have made things far more challenging without the Frenchman’s retirement, as he was aiming for significant points.
“I’m very happy. I think eighth place is the best result we could achieve today, being the fifth-best team in terms of pace ahead of Alpine and Aston,” Hulkenberg commented.
“It was a clean, well-executed race, and as expected, tire management was very tough with graining, especially on the front. It concerned everyone, but we handled it well and managed to pull slightly ahead of our main competitors, which worked out nicely. Our pace was decent, too.”
Kevin Magnussen, on the other hand, attempted something unique—a one-stop strategy—the only driver to do so, but with limited success.
“We did a single stop, which I don’t think was the right call, and that’s why we finished 12th. The pace was good on the hard tires but poor due to graining on the mediums. We struggled, kept going, and ended up losing everything, forcing us back onto the hards. It didn’t feel like we got the best out of it.”
