Haas Unveils Striking Sakura-Inspired Livery for Suzuka

31/03/2025

Haas reveal a cherry blossom livery in Japan, while Ocon calls Suzuka the most thrilling, precise and iconic track on the calendar.

The Japanese Grand Prix is always a fan favorite, and this year, Haas F1 is marking the occasion in style. The team will run a special edition livery on the VF-25 this weekend at Suzuka, paying tribute to Japan with a beautiful cherry blossom (“sakura”) design — a nod to the country’s iconic spring bloom.

Esteban Ocon is particularly excited to return to Suzuka, a track he holds in high regard. The French driver narrowly missed the podium there two years ago and says the legendary circuit demands absolute precision.

“Personally, I’m really happy to be back in Japan this weekend,” Ocon said. “The fans here are incredible — so passionate and knowledgeable. Over the years, I’ve seen some really creative outfits, and the support is always amazing. People are just so kind.”

When it comes to the track itself, Ocon doesn’t mince words: “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — Suzuka is the best circuit on the calendar. There’s just so much to love about it, especially the first sector, which is super quick and flowing.”

“It really pushes you as a driver. You have to be laser-sharp, especially in qualifying, and that makes it incredibly rewarding when you nail a lap. I also love the old-school feel of the place, and when you add in the energy of the fans, it becomes a real highlight of the season.”

Reflecting on his past success at Suzuka — including a strong P4 finish in 2022 — Ocon is optimistic: “We’ve had some good results here, and we’re aiming for another strong weekend to kick off this triple-header on the right foot.”

Haas rookie Oliver Bearman is equally excited, having already sampled Suzuka in Super Formula testing. This will be his first official race weekend at the iconic track.

“I’m super excited to race in Japan,” Bearman said. “The circuit looks incredible, and with our partnership with Toyota Gazoo Racing, it’s going to be a big moment for the team.”

“Driving a Super Formula car here was amazing — the track just comes alive. The fans were unreal, so I can’t wait to experience that again. Everyone says Suzuka is one of the best on the calendar, and I’m really looking forward to getting out there.”

Team Principal Ayao Komatsu is hoping the momentum from Shanghai carries over to Suzuka. Haas scored double points in China, and Komatsu sees this as another chance to build consistency.

“After a very successful weekend in Shanghai, we’re feeling positive heading into Japan,” Komatsu said. “Suzuka is a tough circuit — not just for the drivers, but also for the engineers. Getting the setup right is absolutely key.”

“While we had a competitive showing in China, we’re still working through some fundamental issues with the car that became clear in Melbourne. We’re coming into this weekend with eyes wide open, ready to face any challenge and maximize everything we can from the VF-25 and our drivers.”
