Alpine saw promise in Gasly’s speed, but a first-lap clash in Jeddah left the team empty-handed and questioning their luck.

Alpine F1 came into the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix hoping to score points after a strong qualifying session from Pierre Gasly. But the race quickly turned sour after a first-lap collision with Yuki Tsunoda, leaving the team frustrated with what might have been.

“It’s frustrating to leave Jeddah empty-handed, especially considering Pierre’s pace throughout the weekend,” said Team Principal Oliver Oakes. “The first-lap incident took away a real chance for points.”

The team also used the opportunity to give Jack Doohan some track time, aiming for a bold one-stop strategy. But that plan didn’t quite work out.

“We brought Jack in early for a long stint on hard tyres, hoping he could carry that through to the end. Unfortunately, he struggled for grip and couldn’t find the pace we needed,” Oakes added.

Still, Alpine sees silver linings from the recent triple-header. With their first points on the board and signs of progress in car performance, the team is looking ahead with cautious optimism.

“There are positives to take from these last three races. The car is showing promise, and the team is pushing forward. Now, all eyes are on Miami.”
