Gasly's A524 Gains Momentum Before Montreal Challenge

Gasly Optimistic as A524 Improves, Montreal Tests Ahead

Pierre Gasly heads to the Canadian GP, buoyed by progress but cautious of Montreal’s upcoming trials.

Gasly arrives in Montreal for the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix having finally opened his points account with Alpine F1 this season.

The Norman is pleased with his performance and that of his team in Monaco, with a point that should lead to more.

“It felt long, but it was good to score my first point of the season in Monaco. Our performances were much more consistent compared to previous races,” notes the Frenchman.

“We hadn’t really started off on a positive note, but we made solid progress from Friday to Saturday, which allowed us to be fast enough to make it into Q3. While making this first Q3 of the year was pleasing in itself, it was also a missed opportunity, as we had the pace and I was confident enough in the car to have placed higher on the grid.”

“Despite this, we finished tenth, and in the same position in the race. This point is a nice reward, but we must continue to give our all to earn more.”

Thus, Gasly approaches this weekend in Montreal with a positive attitude. And as Bruno Famin pointed out, Alpine F1 may need to rely on the weather to have a chance at securing a top 10 finish.

“The next meeting is Canada. It’s always interesting to race there as it is a non-permanent circuit, which brings captivating challenges. We expect a much smoother track with the resurfacing of the track, but this could also mean low grip, especially for the Friday practices.”

“In the last two years, we’ve had wet qualifications. We must keep in mind the variety of conditions we can encounter throughout the weekend in Montreal and be ready for anything.”

“For now, I am pleased with the progress made in recent weeks and we must continue on this trajectory with positive performances on track.”
