Gasly and Doohan reflect on promising progress in Jeddah, with both drivers confident in the Alpine A525’s potential ahead of qualifying.

Although there’s still work to be done, Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan are hopeful about the team’s progress with the A525.

Pierre Gasly showcased strong performance during free practice sessions in Jeddah, continuing the momentum from his excellent Bahrain weekend. The Alpine F1 driver even set the fastest time in FP1, before encountering a tougher session in FP2.

“Overall, I’m happy with our Friday,” Gasly said. “FP1 felt great, and it’s always nice to post the best time, even if it’s just practice. The car was good enough to push right from the start, which is a positive sign on such a fast circuit.”

However, the conditions weren’t as ideal in FP2. “It was a bit trickier, and we struggled with overall grip. This session was closer to what we’ll face in qualifying tomorrow, so we definitely have some work to do to understand and fine-tune the car before we head back out.”

“We’re taking it one session at a time. As always, the margins are tight, with several cars just a tenth or two apart. We’re not far off, and there’s room for improvement. We’ll need to make the most of it tomorrow.”

Jack Doohan, who trailed his teammate throughout the day, also acknowledged there’s more work to do. “It wasn’t the easiest Friday for us, but we’ve learned a lot from both sessions.”

“The track here is very fast, and you need to build confidence to really attack with the car. I felt comfortable with the medium tires, but we haven’t quite figured out the softs yet, so there’s still some understanding to do.”

“I’m confident we’ll sort it out before qualifying. I hope we can maximize the potential of our package. FP3 will likely be in similar hot conditions to FP1 earlier today, so we’ll focus on refining the final details and closing the gap to the top ten to be in the fight during qualifying.”
