Gasly looks to convert Q3 pace into points as Doohan aims to recover from a tough qualifying in the streets of Jeddah.
Pierre Gasly continues to show steady progress with Alpine, securing another spot in Q3 during qualifying in Jeddah. But the French driver believes there’s still more to come.
“It’s always good to make it into Q3,” Gasly said after qualifying. “There are still a few small things we can improve, but being in the top ten is definitely a positive. We’ll work through the details with the team, and I think we’re in a strong position for the race.”
Looking ahead, Gasly has a clear target in mind: “Sainz is who we’re aiming for. We had the pace to fight with him, so tomorrow it’s all about delivering a solid race and bringing home points for the team.”
On the other side of the garage, Jack Doohan had a more challenging time, qualifying 17th. The Australian admitted he’s still trying to catch up after a tough start to the weekend.
“Honestly, it was a bit of everything,” Doohan explained. “I had some small issues yesterday that put us behind, and I didn’t get the track time I needed to make progress. I felt better today, but losing two sessions really hurt.”
Still, Doohan remains optimistic: “The race pace should be decent. It wasn’t bad in Bahrain and should be even stronger here. If we do everything right, we’ll try to move forward.”
