Pierre Gasly sees Monaco as a golden chance for Alpine, with strong qualifying and bold strategy key to scoring vital F1 points.
Pierre Gasly has always felt at ease in Monaco, and with an Alpine F1 car capable of reaching Q3, the Frenchman could once again spring a surprise this weekend.
So what are his expectations?
“Monaco is one of those circuits where it’s difficult to predict or get a clear idea of how performance will evolve.”
“It’s one of those tracks where, as a driver, you feel you can have a bigger impact on performance. Car performance is potentially more balanced than on traditional circuits. All of that brings great opportunities.”
“As far as I’m concerned, I see a weekend full of opportunities. I’m quite optimistic about what we can achieve, and I know it could be a great chance to score points. It’s one of my favorite circuits. It has always worked out pretty well for me here, and I’m really looking forward to being back again this year.”
It’s also a race with two mandatory pit stops. Does he think that will bring opportunities?
“I always look at things from a positive angle. So I see opportunities. I see unknowns, which are better embraced than feared. In the end, I’m not sure anyone really knows how it’s going to play out. It might not change much.”
“I think what remains extremely important is qualifying. We know that if we perform well in qualifying, a big part of the job is done. But I’m sure it will open the door to potential strategies that we’ll need to manage well.”
