Alpine F1 targets first points in high-stakes Suzuka run

After two tough rounds, Alpine heads to Japan seeking redemption as Gasly and Doohan aim for points at the legendary Suzuka Circuit.

Alpine F1 heads to the iconic Suzuka Circuit for the Japanese Grand Prix — the third round of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship — still chasing its first points of the season.

Pierre Gasly returns to Japan for the seventh time and is eager to kickstart both his and the team’s points tally after a tough start to the year.

Gasly Aims For Japanese Redemption

“After two challenging races, despite some good opportunities, I’m really looking forward to this next stretch of back-to-back races,” Gasly said.
“Getting disqualified in Shanghai for a technical infringement was frustrating, especially since we were just outside the top ten. But I’m determined to bounce back here in Japan — a country I know well and love since my time in Super Formula.”

“Suzuka is one of the most beautiful circuits on the calendar. The first sector’s ‘S’ curves are a dream to drive — fast, flowing, and technically demanding. It’s a real test for both the car and the driver. Plus, the fans in Japan are incredible. They bring a special energy to the weekend.”

On the other side of the garage, Jack Doohan is preparing for just his fourth Formula 1 start. However, he’ll sit out Free Practice 1 as Japanese driver Ryo Hirakawa takes the wheel during that session.

Doohan Ready for Suzuka Challenge

“It was good to have a short break to reset after a tricky start to the season. Pierre and I spent time at the factory going through the data from the first two races and preparing for this intense triple-header,” Doohan said.

“I love Japanese food and culture — I always try to stop in Tokyo and soak up the atmosphere. I’ve raced at Suzuka before in the Asian F3 Championship, but this will be my first time here in an F1 car. With the higher speeds and risk-reward nature of the track, it’ll be a whole new challenge.”

“I’ll take over from Free Practice 2 onwards, with Ryo jumping in for FP1. He knows this track really well, so we’ll lean on his experience to get up to speed quickly. Our goal is simple: make the most of the weekend and score our first points of the season.”
