Pierre Gasly scored four points at the Spanish Grand Prix, but Alpine F1 now sits last in the 2025 Formula 1 standings.
Gasly finished in a solid eighth place at the Spanish Grand Prix. Despite collecting four points, Alpine F1 drops a position following Nico Hülkenberg’s impressive fifth place for Sauber, but that doesn’t take away the French driver’s satisfaction.
“We have to focus on our own race, and based on our race we delivered a good performance. We’ll look into what we could have done better, we reacted very well during the first stop, in the second stop we lost time with the blue flags but it was good,” said Gasly.
The battle with Isack Hadjar was short-lived, but the weekend’s outcome remains positive: “They made the right choice to extend the first stint and I knew he would come back strong on the mediums. I didn’t have much pace at that moment so I couldn’t keep him behind.”
“But we are managing to fight for points, and we have to look at the positives. Yesterday we put in a very good lap in qualifying which allowed us to start in the top 10. Today we managed to hold on, with some difficulty, but we were able to grab four points. Sunday is more difficult, and that’s where we need to improve.”
Franco Colapinto finished 15th and was frustrated with his race after another disappointing weekend: “It was a tough race, not what we were hoping for. It was hard to overtake, and my race was very difficult. We had a complicated weekend even though we made progress yesterday, but the race was tough, I need to understand what happened.”
