Toto Wolff values his relationship with Max Verstappen, hinting at future possibilities while emphasizing mutual respect and understanding.
Mercedes F1 has opted to trust a George Russell – Andrea Kimi Antonelli duo for 2025.
Two 100% Mercedes drivers bring joy to Toto Wolff, though he admits that the flirtation with Max Verstappen, which lasted several months, could one day materialize into a contract.
For now, the Austrian is highly satisfied with the pairing set to lead Mercedes F1 into its post-Lewis Hamilton era.
“Max and I get along very well, even if we’re not always in the spotlight together.”
“I’ve known Jos for a long time. He’s my age, and we share similar views on racing.”
“And I wouldn’t want the events of 2021 to cast a shadow on any personal relationship we have. That year was bad enough, but the relationships remain intact.”
“Max is a great driver and an interesting personality, and God knows what the future holds. But having Kimi and George in the car—Mercedes juniors, true drivers forged at Mercedes, who’ve achieved every step of their careers with our support—I look forward to that scenario.”
“It now seems natural to transition to the next generation.”
