Racing Bulls leaves behind its notoriously outdated headquarters, unveiling a high-tech Milton Keynes facility as Laurent Mekies celebrates this strategic upgrade.
Racing Bulls has finally moved from its outdated British headquarters in Bicester to Milton Keynes, where a brand-new building on Red Bull’s campus awaits the Faenza-based team. Team Principal Laurent Mekies welcomes leaving behind facilities that were old and below Formula 1 standards.
“We decided to leave nearly 15 years ago,” Mekies revealed. “It was too small, too outdated. I wouldn’t say it was the worst headquarters in Formula 1—but it probably was.”
The Frenchman praised the significant step forward with the new facility, located close to all Red Bull infrastructure: “What we have now is a brand-new building. It’s a very high-tech facility.”
Racing Bulls’ new HQ boosts talent appeal and teamwork
“It gives our staff the perfect tools to work in ideal conditions. It also makes us more attractive on the job market when looking for talent or trying to retain our staff.”
“It provides us with a suitable platform. Being right next to Red Bull’s campus immediately makes us feel closer to the family. When you arrive, there’s Red Bull everywhere—Powertrains, Red Bull Racing, and Red Bull Advanced Technology.”
The new facility also places Racing Bulls’ engineers close to their colleagues at Red Bull Powertrains: “It’s great to start interacting with powertrain specialists ahead of 2026 and literally have them next door.”
While having split locations—one base in Italy at Faenza and the other in England—could seem complex, Mekies sees additional opportunities: “I don’t think it’s an advantage to be split across several sites, but we’re trying to view it differently and get some benefits out of it.”
“So, we don’t have one department working in Milton Keynes and another in Faenza. Instead, we’re moving towards what we internally call a location-free approach.”
“That means we can hire the best people in Europe, the best people in England, and it’s our job to make it work. For example, Isack [Hadjar]’s race engineers are based in England, and Yuki [Tsunoda]’s are based in Italy. That’s how we see things.”
