Franco Colapinto’s future sparks intrigue as speculation grows about a Red Bull Racing announcement this weekend in Las Vegas.
Franco Colapinto’s fans can anticipate a “major announcement” this weekend in Las Vegas.
This comes from Argentine journalist Cesar Santomauro amid speculation that the Williams rookie could be announced as Max Verstappen’s new teammate at Red Bull Racing for 2025—or placed at RB F1 temporarily for further evaluation.
“Attention, big news is coming,” Santomauro stated on X, captioning his post with a photo of the 21-year-old Argentine rookie. “Las Vegas, in just a few days.”
Colapinto has turned heads in the paddock since replacing Logan Sargeant earlier this season and is believed to have garnered enough commercial backing from Argentina to justify Williams’ $20 million contract release fee.
Despite Red Bull incumbent Sergio Perez’s repeated denials that his seat is at risk, team advisor Dr. Helmut Marko remains non-committal when questioned about the Mexican’s future, even with his 2025 contract in place.
“We still have three races left, so we should be able to finish them fairly well. Maybe it will work out for us after all. Then we’ll see what decisions need to be made.”
For his part, Franco Colapinto insists he is unfazed by any driver on the grid and would not shy away from competing against Verstappen.
“When I was a kid, I watched Alonso race Hamilton, fighting for titles, and suddenly racing against them was a shock. But when the visor comes down, everyone is the same.”
“That childhood fan perspective fades, and you want to beat everyone. Whether it’s Verstappen or Zhou next to me, it’s always the same. I want to beat them and finish ahead.”
“That moment when you had idols or heroes disappears; you respect them a bit less because if they remain your heroes, it’s very hard to compete against them.”
