F1: Now a Global Entertainment Powerhouse, Says Domenicali

12/10/2024

Stefano Domenicali redefines F1’s future, positioning it as direct competition to cinema and global entertainment.

Stefano Domenicali outlined some of his plans for Formula 1 over the next decade.

The CEO believes that F1 no longer competes solely with other forms of motorsport but is now “directly competing with other entertainment streams like cinema or major global events.”

The 2024 Formula 1 season will resume with the United States Grand Prix later this month, marking the second race in the U.S. this season after Miami in May. F1 will return to the U.S. in November for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, which Domenicali highlights as a growth point.

“It’s really fascinating because just a few years ago, we struggled to organize even one race there. Then, in the blink of an eye, we went from one to three races, and the attention has increased significantly.”

F1 aims to continue its expansion, and Domenicali has a clear plan for it.

“Our audience watches movies, they watch events. We are one of them. We need to think big, we need to compete with that. We no longer believe we should only compete with other four-wheel sports. That’s our goal. We need to ensure that if we want to stay competitive in a market full of different offers, we must be strong.”

“I want to make sure F1 is a highly inclusive platform, appreciated worldwide, where people enjoy and love participating, whether at home or on-site. All while ensuring there’s always respect, and that the world can learn from us how to behave.”
