In a landmark moment for Formula 1, Cadillac will join as the championship’s 11th team, reshaping the motorsport landscape from 2026.
The FIA and Formula 1 have officially confirmed the entry of the Cadillac F1 team as the 11th team on the grid, starting from the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship. This decision marks the first expansion of the grid since Haas joined in 2016 and concludes over two years of extensive evaluation and effort.
Andretti/Cadillac, a partnership between Andretti Global and General Motors (GM), was the sole successful applicant following a rigorous selection process initiated by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem in February 2023.
Despite the initial rejection of their commercial proposal by Formula 1 in January 2024, subsequent negotiations led to a final agreement. The team will now compete under the official name Cadillac F1 Team.
