29/03/2024

Former Renault F1 team principal Flavio Briatore underwent successful heart surgery to remove a benign tumor. He revealed the news after leaving a Milan hospital, marking a new chapter in his eventful life.

The 73-year-old Italian disclosed this upon being discharged from a Milan hospital following the procedure.

Briatore shared on Instagram that the surgery was “perfectly successful.”

“After a routine check-up, I underwent cardiac surgery to remove a benign mass through a minimally invasive procedure.”

Briatore served as the managing director of Benetton when Michael Schumacher clinched the F1 drivers’ championship in 1994 and 1995.

He also led Renault F1 to victory with Fernando Alonso securing the title in 2005 and 2006 but left amid the “Crashgate” scandal.

Although he no longer holds an official position in F1, he has been seen at Grand Prix events in recent years and works as a consultant for the Paddock Club, which FOM is looking to expand.
