Lewis Hamilton’s long-awaited Ferrari chapter has officially begun, as he arrives in Maranello to kick off a new racing era.
It’s official! Lewis Hamilton has finally joined Ferrari and arrived in Maranello this morning at the headquarters of the Italian brand and its Scuderia.
Hamilton described his first day at Ferrari as the fulfillment of a “dream” and something he will “always remember.”
His first official photo? Hamilton standing in front of Ferrari’s historic headquarters, with the founder Enzo’s house in the background and next to a model of the iconic F40.
On today’s agenda, he will visit all departments of the Scuderia, have his seat fitted, and attend initial meetings. The simulator is scheduled for tomorrow, followed by his first track session on Wednesday, driving a previous F1 car from 2022 or 2023.
“There are days you know you’ll always remember, and today, my first day at Ferrari, is one of those days.”
“I’ve been fortunate enough to accomplish things in my career I never thought possible, but part of me has always held onto this dream of racing in red.”
“I couldn’t be happier to see that dream come true today.”
“Today, we begin a new era in the history of this iconic team, and I’m excited to see what story we’ll write together.”
Ferrari also stated in an official release:
“Lewis Hamilton’s journey with Scuderia Ferrari HP has now begun.”
“Early this morning, the seven-time world champion arrived at the team’s headquarters in Maranello, via Enzo Ferrari 27.”
“From there, he headed to the Fiorano circuit where, against the backdrop of Enzo Ferrari’s house, on the square now named after the only other seven-time Formula 1 world champion, Michael Schumacher, he was greeted by Team Principal Fred Vasseur and Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna.”
“The traditional first-day photos were taken there, with the weather even playing its part to make Lewis feel at home, featuring an overcast sky and a typically British drizzle.”
“A Ferrari F40, Lewis’s favorite supercar, was also present.”
“Lewis then took a brief tour of the Fiorano house and garage with Vasseur and Vigna, including a glimpse of the famous office where Enzo Ferrari used to watch his team at work.”
“Hamilton then returned to the Scuderia headquarters, where he met the leadership team and Piero Ferrari, before embarking on a full-day immersion program, visiting all the different departments to get acquainted with the team.”
“The work continues tomorrow with further technical meetings and briefings as preparations begin for what promises to be a very busy season.”
