Fred Vasseur praises Ferrari’s strategic mastery in Melbourne, leading to a triumphant one-two finish by Sainz and Leclerc.

Vasseur has nothing but praise for his team, Ferrari, following the one-two finish by Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc in Melbourne. The team’s principal highlights that this result is indicative of the progress made in race conditions.

“After the Australian Grand Prix, I want to congratulate the entire team, as everyone has done a perfect job, and this one-two finish is the reward for the incredible work that started last season and is now continuing both on the track and in Maranello,” Vasseur notes.

“Of course, Carlos deserves special mention because just over two weeks ago, he underwent surgery. He raced this weekend as if it had never happened and managed to stay focused throughout, rounding off a sensational weekend with a beautiful victory.”

“Charles also put in a solid performance because, after far-from-perfect qualifying, he had to manage the tires, but he managed to recover thanks to the car’s performance. He performed very well in the first and last stints, and the fastest lap he set at the very end confirms the progress we have made in terms of tire management.”

According to the Frenchman, shining in Melbourne demonstrates that Scuderia is progressing: “What I want to remember is that we were fast all weekend in Melbourne from the first free practice sessions, and I think we have taken a good step forward compared to last year since we left Melbourne without scoring any points.”

“We were not disappointed by our results in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, and we are not getting carried away by this one-two finish either. We must continue with this approach in the coming races because it is the only way to achieve the desired results.”
