Leclerc Confident Consistency Will Secure Late-Season Wins

10/10/2024

Charles Leclerc remains hopeful Ferrari’s steady performance will lead to victories before the 2024 season concludes, focusing on consistency.

Charles Leclerc expects Red Bull, particularly with Max Verstappen, to remain at the front. The Ferrari driver thought the RB20 might struggle in Singapore, but that wasn’t the case, leading him to believe Red Bull will continue to fight for podiums and possibly wins in the near future.

“It depends on the next race,” Leclerc said. “They’ve had ups and downs in recent races, but it’s also true that the recent races have been somewhat more specific in terms of car characteristics. So, I’ve never ruled them out, and I’m sure they’ll be strong until the end of the season.”

Leclerc admitted he didn’t expect Red Bull to be challenged by McLaren and, at times, Ferrari and Mercedes this season: “It depends on when you asked me the question, but to be honest, until two or three races ago, we didn’t expect this.”

“It was a big surprise for us to see McLaren make such a step forward from I don’t know which race, but at the start of the season, I think we all thought after the first two or three races that Red Bull would run away with the title as easily as last year.”

“Then McLaren came along and made a huge leap forward, and we kind of maximized most of our season, except for the three races after Canada where we struggled as a team and tried to find our way.”

“But aside from that, even though I don’t think we ever had the fastest car, we always maximized our results, which has allowed us not to lose too many points to our competitors. So we need to keep doing what we’re doing, and hopefully by the end of the year, consistency will be rewarded.”
