Ferrari's Gains Tied to Car Says Leclerc

Leclerc Credits Ferrari’s Rise to Car, Not Drivers

18/06/2024

Leclerc highlights that Ferrari’s recent progress is driven by car enhancements rather than driver input.

Charles Leclerc confirms that Ferrari’s progress stems from the team, not his own performance level. The Scuderia driver emphasizes that the significant improvement seen since last year cannot merely be attributed to the driving of either himself or his teammate.

“As a driver, you always improve from one season to the next,” Leclerc stated. “However, when you consider the strides we’ve made, it’s much more down to the team and the car. As drivers, you can’t make such a leap on your own. It’s largely due to the car and the diligent work we’ve done as a team.”

Beyond operational advancements, he also acknowledges that the vehicle is genuinely easier to handle, which has enabled both him and Carlos Sainz to be more comfortable and thus more effective.

“I believe we’ve had a very good approach over the past seven or eight months to swiftly address the issues we had with the car, and that’s why we are the team that has improved the most in this area during this period.”

“Therefore, we must continue to focus on ourselves, not look at others, and keep striving to optimize every detail. But the major difference between last year and this year is that the car is much easier to drive, faster, and as a driver, it’s just continuous improvement.”
