Ferrari is set to test its SF-24’s latest upgrades at Fiorano, aiming to enhance performance for the upcoming Imola GP.
Ferrari has intentionally kept discussions about its anticipated upgrades minimal and finally confirmed for Imola by Frédéric Vasseur, Sunday evening, after the Miami race.
However, the upgrades are such that Ferrari will use a filming day this week at Fiorano, its private track.
The upgraded SF-24 will thus run before the Imola Grand Prix for 200 kilometers to see if the wind tunnel data correlates with the data collected on track.
“It will be a very important upgrade,” said Charles Leclerc. “It will determine how the rest of our season will unfold. I am looking forward to it and hope we can make a significant step forward.”
The package would include Red Bull-style sidepods with thinner radiator openings, a new floor, and a front wing.
Ferrari is thus repeating its 2023 plan, when it had a filming day before Austria to test the new front wing and floor of its SF-23.
On Thursday and Friday at Fiorano, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will have the opportunity to drive the single-seater for 200 kilometers, 100 each (the 2024 regulations allow this type of driving to be spread over two days).
