Ferrari prepares for Lewis Hamilton’s first test with contingency plans, ensuring bad weather won’t disrupt the highly anticipated debut.
The highly anticipated debut of Lewis Hamilton with Ferrari could be delayed and moved away from Fiorano if the team is forced to resort to “Plan B” ahead of the 2025 F1 season.
The Briton, who reportedly made another secret visit to Maranello in recent days to continue his preparations, is set to drive the 2022 F1-75 to familiarize himself with the engineers, the steering wheel, and Scuderia procedures.
However, the threat of bad weather, highly likely in January, has compelled Ferrari to develop a Plan B for Hamilton’s debut.
He is expected to drive the F1-75 for the first time on Tuesday, January 21, or Wednesday, January 22.
Ferrari has, however, prepared contingency plans to move the test to Mugello, which hosted the Tuscan Grand Prix during the pandemic-hit 2020 season, or to Imola, home of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.
Hamilton’s test could even be postponed to another date if adverse weather conditions simultaneously make running on all three circuits impossible.
