Ferrari’s pre-season testing began smoothly in Bahrain, with Leclerc and Hamilton expressing enthusiasm—though both remained tight-lipped on performance insights.
Leclerc productive and discreet on first test day in Bahrain
Setting the fourth-fastest time of the day with 70 laps completed, Charles Leclerc had a productive yet discreet evening in Sakhir.
The Monegasque driver got a proper feel for his new red machine, and his first impressions were highly anticipated. Were they positive?
“It feels great to be back on track. The whole team has put an enormous amount of effort into the SF-25 project over the winter break, so it’s exciting to finally start working with it.”
“It’s always a positive when you have a smooth session without any unexpected issues disrupting the program. Of course, it’s still too early to draw conclusions about our performance level. We’ll analyze today’s data and make the most of what we’ve learned tonight to keep progressing tomorrow.”
Hamilton’s first ‘real’ day in red
Undoubtedly the most anticipated driver of the day, Lewis Hamilton had his first true day in red in Bahrain on Wednesday.
Hamilton completed exactly the same number of laps as his teammate (70) but only set the 13th fastest time—something that, at this stage, means little.
Not known for being a big fan of private testing, the Briton nonetheless admitted to enjoying himself:
“Testing is always exciting.”
“It’s the first chance to see what everyone has developed and to start feeling your own car as well as the season ahead.”
“Being here with Scuderia Ferrari and driving the SF-25 for the first time is an incredible feeling.”
“Right now, our goal is to experiment with different things, gather as much data as possible, and get familiar with the car, and we’ve already learned a lot.”
As for the car’s immediate competitiveness, Lewis Hamilton may have had a glimpse—but he’s not revealing anything just yet! At least, everything is running smoothly for now.
“It’s still too early to truly understand our performance level, but everything seems to be working well, and as a team, we are focused on optimizing each run.”
“There is still plenty to do in the coming days to complete our program and understand the car as best we can, but for now, I’m looking forward to getting back on track tomorrow.”
