Lewis Hamilton is embracing Ferrari life in Italy, perhaps a bit too much, especially when it comes to pizza and pasta.
Off the track, Lewis Hamilton is settling into the Ferrari lifestyle surprisingly well, maybe a little too well, by his own admission.
The British driver doesn’t live in Italy, but he’s been spending a lot of time at Ferrari’s headquarters in Maranello, working closely with engineers and pushing the development of the SF-25. He plans to return again right after the Miami Grand Prix, continuing his deep dive into the team’s inner workings.
So how’s life in Italy treating him?
“I love it,” Hamilton said. “I try to stay away from pizza and pasta, which isn’t going too well, honestly.”
He laughed as he admitted he recently went overboard. “I was there last week and had three pizzas in two days. That’s too much. I have a guy who brings me the best pizzas. I text him late at night like, ‘Hey, can I get a pizza?’ And he always delivers. It’s hard to resist.”
Though he hasn’t made Italy his home just yet, Hamilton isn’t ruling it out. “I don’t live there at the moment, but spending more time in Italy is definitely something I want to explore this year.”
As for the language barrier, he’s not fluent in Italian yet, but he’s working on it.
“My Italian isn’t improving as fast as I’d like, so I probably need to put in more effort,” he admitted. “But the work with the team is going well regardless.”
Since joining Ferrari, Hamilton says the progress behind the scenes has been significant. “There have already been a lot of changes. We’ve made huge strides since January, especially in how we communicate in the simulator. The team’s been incredibly responsive and supportive. I’ve really appreciated that.”
