Ferrari Jeddah F1 Testing 2024

Ferrari’s Solid Start at 2024 Jeddah F1 Testing

07/03/2024

Despite not shining the brightest on day one, Ferrari displayed a robust showing at the Jeddah circuit for the Saudi Arabian GP, promising more to come.

Ferrari was not the most impressive team on the first day of testing at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. However, the Scuderia showed solid performance, with drivers quickly getting to grips with the Jeddah circuit, as confirmed by Charles Leclerc.

“The track provided good grip almost immediately, and we can expect a high level of track evolution tomorrow as well.”

“Many of us are recording very close times: it will be interesting to see who can get the most out of their car and find the right setup to stay ahead of everyone.”

“The SF24 is performing well, but we still need to find a few tenths in the setup. We will analyze this tonight.”

Carlos Sainz was involved in several on-track incidents, one with Lewis Hamilton and others where he appeared reckless. Despite this, he was quick and quickly adapted to his SF-24.

He first discussed his illness, which caused him to miss media day yesterday. He returned to the paddock just minutes before the start of Free Practice 1.

“Obviously, a very tough day after feeling unwell. The last 24 hours have been hard and challenging for me. Today was about trying to get on track and learn as much as possible about the car without really pushing the limits since I was still not in ideal condition, but we managed to complete the program without issues.”

“I hope to feel better tomorrow, even if I’m probably not going to be 100%. But feeling better will allow me to push more and have a good Saturday.”

Due to his illness, Sainz was cautious about relying too much on his performances.

“Today, it’s very difficult to interpret the lap times. We’re going to prepare everything and try to do well in qualifying. The track offers very high grip and high speed, which also makes it physically challenging. It’s much more demanding for both the car and the driver. A tough day, as I said, but we managed to finish it. Now, I’m going to rest and come back stronger tomorrow.”
