Ferrari faced challenges in Brazil’s F1 Sprint, with Leclerc and Sainz struggling to secure top positions amidst an intense race.
Charles Leclerc finished fourth in the F1 Sprint in Brazil. The Ferrari driver displayed strong early pace but couldn’t mount a challenge against the McLarens, eventually seeing Max Verstappen close in and overtake him for third place.
“There were a lot of factors at play; we had a very aggressive setup, and we knew it, but the race turned out to be quite difficult. Risks had to be taken, so I pushed at the start, but the car was hard to handle. There were plenty of mistakes, but that’s how it goes. The approach for tomorrow will be entirely different, as we didn’t have much to lose today,” noted Leclerc.
“I knew that, at worst, we could go for first or second, and in the worst-case scenario, we’d end up fourth. We’ve lost some valuable points, but we’ve learned a lot for tomorrow.”
Carlos Sainz had a largely solitary run to fifth place, securing four points at Interlagos. “The issue was that I made a lot of mistakes early on. I struggled a lot with balance in the opening laps.”
“Truthfully, it wasn’t a good race. We faced numerous issues with balance and tyres throughout, so if we want a shot tomorrow, we need to make improvements.”
“There was no pace today. Although I seemed to pick up a bit towards the end, I was uncomfortable throughout the race. I expected to be faster than I was, so it’s clear we need to do something to improve.”
“Each lap we complete adds more rubber on the track, which helps, but still, it’s a challenging asphalt to understand, and we need to keep adapting to it.”
