Adrian Newey remains open to all F1 teams, with Ferrari as a prime option.
Eddie Jordan has responded to speculations that Adrian Newey’s transfer to Ferrari has been ruled out.
The Irishman, a former F1 team boss, has unexpectedly taken on the role of Newey’s manager in recent months, paving the way for a post-Red Bull era for the F1 designer.
Newey, who has already ceased all engineering activities within F1, will leave Red Bull for good on March 31, 2025, and will be free to join another team from April 1.
But which team will it be? Aston Martin F1? Ferrari? Or… Red Bull?
“Red Bull might look to sign Adrian again. They may be starting to realise he was more important than they thought. Do they miss him already? I’m not going to answer that,” said Jordan.
“I’ve heard claims about Adrian, about which direction he might or might not take (regarding Aston Martin F1). I would tell you that I can’t believe what is being said can legitimately be called a fact.”
“What I’ve heard is extremely fanciful. If you remember what I’ve said and what Adrian has said… Everything is still possible.”
“The reason why no one will know is because it’s the summer period, he went to Goodwood with the RB17, he is still working with Red Bull on this car.”
“One might say that Red Bull should approach him and ask if he would come back! But I think it’s far too late.”
“And there are all the other candidates that you know. Everything is still open, nothing has been ruled out as I’ve read.”
“The reality is that Adrian is enjoying his free time. He has spent every year of his life, day and night, since he was 19, working. He is now 65. He’s having fun, his daughter got married, he’s doing other things he’s never been able to do before.”
For an answer about Newey’s future, it will “presumably not be before the fall.”
