Kevin Magnussen remains unflustered about his uncertain future in Formula 1, with no definitive plans yet for the upcoming season.
Kevin Magnussen acknowledges that his career at the pinnacle of motorsport is entering its final phase. The Haas F1 driver has previously indicated that he is considering other disciplines, and he confirms that he has no updates on his plans for 2025.
“No, not really. I mean, I have some ideas about what I’m going to do. But no news to share and nothing to announce,” stated Magnussen, who is not daunted by the prospect of leaving Formula 1. “I think I’m approaching this second half of the year just like any other part of the year.”
“I’ve been in this sport for so long that I don’t think I have anything to prove. I’ve shown over ten years what I am as a driver, and I can’t really change that in the space of six months.”
“So, I’m quite relaxed and looking forward to what will happen next year. There are options for me and whatever happens, I’m going to enjoy the rest of the year, come what may. We’ll see what happens.”
In any case, he wishes to enjoy whatever he does next: “The priority is to spend my time after this year doing something I find fulfilling and that makes me happy. That could be a lot of things. Formula 1 is one of them.”
Asked about Haas’s chances of overtaking Red Bull F1 for sixth place in the championship, the Dane remains cautious: “No, not really, but it’s possible. They are realistically close to us in terms of performance and points.”
“That’s what we should aim for. I think we have a chance. It’s more likely than not that they will outperform us in the second half of the season. But we don’t know what kind of development they will bring, if it will work.”
“So, I think there is a realistic chance that we could compete with them. If you look at the first half of the season, they were stronger than us, but only by a bit. So, I think there is a chance.”
