Following his sudden departure, F1 community, led by Hamilton, shows overwhelming support for Ricciardo.
Daniel Ricciardo’s colleagues began to express their support for the driver after RB F1 announced he would not finish the season, potentially marking the end of his Formula 1 career.
Lewis Hamilton was among the first to write to Ricciardo.
“It has been an honor to compete against you over the years,” Hamilton stated in a social media message.
“I will never forget the battles, the laughs, and drinking from your shoe. It was disgusting, but I’m glad I got to do it with you, mate.”
“You leave a legacy of always being yourself, which in this sport is never easy. You took everything with the biggest smile, and I salute you for that. There’s so much more to come for you, and I’m excited to see what you do next. Always here for you, man.”
Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, and Esteban Ocon were among Ricciardo’s former teammates to offer their support.
“Congratulations on everything you’ve achieved in your career, mate,” Ocon wrote. “I learned a lot from you during our time together. I wish you the best for your next adventure.”
Fernando Alonso, Pierre Gasly, and Oscar Piastri also conveyed their support.
Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, whose team’s first victory under his leadership was won by Ricciardo three years ago, said: “Daniel, you are one of a kind. An extremely fast driver and a wonderful person to be around.”
“Your win at Monza will forever be etched in McLaren’s history. It was one of the best moments of my life, and I have the tattoo to prove it! I know that day meant a lot to you as well.”
