F1 Shake-Up Sainz to Audi Bottas to Williams

Sainz Allegedly Agrees with Audi, Bottas to Join Williams

22/05/2024

Carlos Sainz is reportedly joining Sauber/Audi for 2025, rejecting offers from Alpine and Williams. Meanwhile, Valtteri Bottas has agreed to a two-year deal with Williams, starting in 2025.

The intense F1 driver market continues to evolve, even in the brief period between the Imola and Monaco races.

Notable changes appear to involve Carlos Sainz and Valtteri Bottas.

The Spaniard is reportedly set to join Sauber/Audi from 2025 onwards, turning down offers from Alpine and Williams F1.

Sainz’s decision is said to follow clear statements from Mercedes F1 director Toto Wolff about waiting for Max Verstappen or Andrea Kimi Antonelli, as well as Red Bull’s proposal to extend Sergio Perez’s contract.

Perez has been offered a one-year extension until 2025. However, the 34-year-old has yet to sign and has requested a minimum two-year contract from Helmut Marko.

Yuki Tsunoda remains a contender for at least a short-term contract with Red Bull Racing next year, potentially leading to a move to Aston Martin Honda in 2026.

Meanwhile, following a meeting with James Vowles in the Williams motorhome at Imola, Valtteri Bottas has reportedly given his verbal agreement to a firm two-year contract with an optional third year.

Bottas could be announced as Logan Sargeant’s replacement for 2025 as early as this weekend in Monaco.
