Lenovo steps up in the tech race, becoming a global partner of Formula 1 from 2025, with Motorola joining as the smartphone ally.
Following the agreement with Santander, Formula 1 announced the expansion of its partnership with Lenovo, elevating the technology giant to the status of a global partner in a multi-year renewal starting from the beginning of 2025. Under this agreement, Motorola, a subsidiary of Lenovo Group, will become the global partner of F1 for smartphones.
As a global partner of Formula 1, Lenovo will continue to supply the F1 with cutting-edge devices, solutions, and technological services to support the staging of Grand Prix events, both on the track and remotely. Lenovo will also be the title sponsor of two races per season, and both Lenovo and Motorola will enjoy increased visibility at trackside during events.
Since 2022, Lenovo’s technology has been at the heart of F1 operations as an official partner. With its onsite high-performance computing solutions, servers, and edge devices, Lenovo assists Formula 1 in producing high-quality audiovisual broadcasts, enabling millions of fans around the world to experience the thrill of F1 through a truly global team, always in action. Lenovo’s hardware, including laptops, workstations, desktops, and monitors, as well as Motorola tablets and smartphones, provides F1 teams with high-quality equipment to create engaging and personalized content for the ever-growing community of this sport’s enthusiasts.
Furthermore, Lenovo’s asset recovery service supports F1’s sustainable development strategy, alongside efforts to reduce emissions and achieve net-zero emissions by 2030. Lenovo’s asset recovery service ensures that IT hardware is recycled in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. Since the beginning of the partnership, F1 has eliminated 95% of obsolete hardware in this way, which also reduces costs and mitigates security risks through data destruction with enhanced security.
As part of the partnership, Lenovo has also invested in podium celebrations, initially with the world’s first two kiss-activated trophies at the Japanese and United States Grand Prix in 2023, followed by the design of this year’s laurel crown. Both blend tradition and innovation and symbolize Lenovo’s commitment to meaningful design coupled with cutting-edge technology.
In recent years, F1’s popularity has significantly increased, with rising television audiences, record attendance, and fan engagement across all platforms. F1 and Lenovo share a common commitment to exploring next-generation technologies, such as Lenovo’s AI PCs, Motorola smartphones equipped with AI, and AR/VR solutions.
Through direct collaboration between F1’s technical teams and Lenovo’s centers of excellence, innovative solutions are found to meet various challenges, such as the use of on-site and edge AI solutions to enhance operational efficiency during F1’s live broadcasts. Together, F1 and Lenovo will continue to build on years of fruitful collaboration to develop the future of the sport.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, stated, “I am thrilled that Lenovo has become a global partner of Formula 1. Since joining us, Lenovo’s creativity and passion for technology and innovation have supported F1’s ambitions to create more unique moments for fans. Today marks a new chapter in a partnership that will only grow stronger. We are proud to see our cutting-edge technology implemented at every level of the F1 organization, and our close collaboration is just beginning.
