In the 2025 F1 Bahrain GP, Racing Bulls slipped back, losing pace and points during a frustrating, off-rhythm weekend in Sakhir.
After showing promising form in previous rounds, Racing Bulls struggled to find their pace at the Bahrain Grand Prix, finishing outside the points in what turned out to be a disappointing weekend.
Team Principal Laurent Mekies admitted that both drivers had a rough start, which cost them dearly from the very first lap. “We believe there was potential for more than P14 and P17, but the opening lap really set us back,” he said.
For Mekies, the main takeaway is to move on and learn from a weekend that “lacked flow.”
“It was a tough few days in Bahrain. We felt like we lost a bit of our edge—maybe just a tenth or two—but that makes a big difference in such a tight midfield,” he explained.
“Saturday’s qualifying and Sunday’s race didn’t go as smoothly as we hoped. In a field where every fraction counts, any drop in performance makes things harder.”
Still, there were positives to build on.
“From the drivers’ side, there are encouraging signs. Isack had another solid weekend. Maybe not as smooth as he would have liked, but he showed strong pace for someone in just his fourth F1 race,” Mekies noted.
“As for Liam, it might not show on the timesheets, but he’s made a clear step forward since Japan. The speed is coming—he’s progressing steadily.”
Looking ahead, Mekies and the team are eager to bounce back quickly.
“We’ll regroup, dig into the data, and find ways to improve. Our full focus is on coming back stronger next week in Jeddah.”
