The 2024 Season, However, Turned Out to Be Even More Successful for the German Veteran, Thanks to a Significantly More Competitive Car.
The American team delivered a VF-24 that was faster, more consistent, and considerably more versatile than its predecessor. Hülkenberg took full advantage, scoring points in the second race of the season in Saudi Arabia, then repeating the feat in Australia, China, and Miami. Internally, he outperformed teammate Kevin Magnussen quite convincingly, a trend that would continue throughout the year.
After a tougher series of races, Hülkenberg returned to form with an impressive sixth place in Austria, followed by the same result at Silverstone, marking his two best results of the season. These performances helped his team contend for sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship against RB F1.
Haas F1 slightly fell back in the following Grands Prix, and Hülkenberg had to wait until Singapore to re-enter the top 10. He should have achieved this earlier in Baku, but a late-race error allowed teammate Oliver Bearman, filling in for Magnussen, to snatch 10th place right before the finish line.
Aside from mistakes in Brazil under the rain and at the start of the Qatar Grand Prix, the German driver finished the year strong, securing top-10 finishes in Austin, Mexico, Las Vegas, and Abu Dhabi. Unfortunately, he narrowly lost the 10th spot in the Drivers’ Championship to Pierre Gasly, who ended the season on a high note. Haas F1 also had to settle for seventh place in the Constructors’ Championship, just behind Alpine.

The German driver may face a challenging season next year, given the struggles of the Hinwil-based team this year. However, his decision was clearly motivated by the arrival of Audi in 2026, coinciding with the introduction of the new regulations. He will partner with F1 newcomer and reigning Formula 2 champion Gabriel Bortoleto, becoming the spearhead of a team he previously raced for in 2013. Let’s hope he finds greater success this time around.
