Haas F1 departs São Paulo with zero points, hindered by costly errors from Bearman and an unprecedented disqualification for Hülkenberg.
Oliver Bearman finished 12th in the São Paulo Grand Prix after a race marked by multiple off-track excursions. Stepping in for Kevin Magnussen at Haas F1, Bearman faced a challenging outing in Brazil, but he had the chance to experience both the rain and the demanding Interlagos circuit.
“A tough race with too many mistakes on my part, and it compromised my performance. We finished 12th and close to the points despite all my errors, but on the flip side, I lost too much time. It was a difficult day, but I learned a lot,” Bearman reflected.
Nevertheless, he was pleased with the lessons gained: “I learned the track, which I hadn’t expected to do until next year. Racing in these conditions is incredibly challenging, so every lap counts, and I got a lot of them in.”
Nico Hülkenberg, meanwhile, became the first driver since Giancarlo Fisichella and Felipe Massa at the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix to be disqualified mid-race. After spinning out and getting stuck on the tarmac, he received assistance from the marshals to rejoin—strictly prohibited by race regulations.
“Unfortunately, I needed help from the marshals as I was stuck following a low-speed spin. It’s my mistake, but it’s disappointing to get caught out like that; usually, you’re able to keep going. It was a small error with costly consequences after a tough weekend,” the German driver concluded.
